St. Eustatius will gift you with a treasure of memories to keep for a lifetime. Take your time to discover St Eustatius beaches and contemplate the Island's volcano, The Quill. In 1756 the port city of St. Eustatius called Oranjestad was introduced as a free port including no custom duties, making it the most important trading port for the West Indies Company and the entire Caribbean, earning the islands nickname ‘The Golden Rock’. Here ‘the first salute’ was given to recognize the United States of America as independent nation.

About Golden Rock Resort

Amazing luxury resort

The Golden Rock is a beautiful luxury resort. It feels brand new. We stayed in a standard room. The room was spacious, had a luxury feel, and was very comfortable. We loved the bed and sunbeds on the balcony. The room was well maintained and clean, and the cleaning lady was very friendly and attentive. The garden and pool areas are lovely. Lots of hummingbirds and pretty trees/ flowers and well kept. The receptionstaff is friendly and helpful. The transfer from the hotel to the airport went perfectly. The entourage of the restaurants is very beautiful. There are 2 restaurants but only 1 restaurant is open at night. The hotel tries to be green and has a big green house. We love that. Overall this is a very beautiful and good hotel. The staff at the reception, of the house keeping and garden are amazing. It's definitely the most luxury hotel with best facilities on the island.

The hotel is absolutely spectacular

Hotel is in pristine condition. The rooms are well appointed. Staff is friendly. 2 restaurants at the resort with overall good food. I agree that Room service can be a tad slow. There are 2 pools and a lagoon. The lagoon is where people learn to dive and there is a school bus at the bottom of the lagoon… There is a very long unpaved road you have to take to get to the hotel ( supposedly it can’t be paved due to historic reasons). The hotel is large but they have a train to take you around if needed. If I return to Statia, I will definitely come back to this resort.

A magical experience

This is the Caribbean's best kept secret! We only learned of St. Eustatius several weeks before we booked. What attracted us was the diving. We had amazing dives with Statia Divers and so much more!

First the resort, this resort is heaven.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage, there were 3 of us, and it was absolutely perfect. It was beautifully furnished, clean and super comfortable. Highly recommend the cottage. Easy walk to most, and the little train runs all the time so easy to use. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. We played mini-golf (it's tough) but we had a blast and laughed the whole way through.

The staff are absolutely wonderful. Sophie was great helping us put this trip together at the last minute. Her responsiveness and genuine care made this a breeze. Everyone from the front desk, to the waitstaff, to housekeeping was super friendly, attentive and always smiling.

Both restaurants were amazing! Food was fantastic. We have a Celiac and the chef was super attentive. By the second day everyone knew our GF restrictions so we didn't even have to remind.

Now the diving... in a word, amazing! Dan, Kate and Captain Dave are top notch. The valet service they provide is second to none. Incredibly knowledgeable about the area and took us to some beautiful dive sites. We were fortunate to see a Goliath Grouper on our second dive. The dive center itself is brand new and all equipment is new. I can't recommend this diving team enough.

If you are looking for a totally chill, relaxing vacation this is the place! We'll be back!

Amazing week with Golden Rock and Statia Divers

Golden Rock is a beautiful place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The food is beyond amazing...the chef and staff took such incredible care of us. The resort is huge and easy to feel like you're on a private vacation more than a resort with other people. Would definitely return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week with Statia Divers. Dan and Kate took amazing care of our group and led us on amazing dives. Our gear was taken care of and ready at all times. Dan and Kate made sure that our group of mixed experience divers were all comfortable at all times. The reef and marine life in Statia are worth a trip to see and Statia Divers is the way to see it!

A Wonderful Resort

We stayed at Golden Rock for 9 nights and we loved every minute of it. We were able to spend this time diving, relaxing by the pool, hiking and eating delicious meals. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help us with anything. The dive team at Statia Divers was amazing and one of the best dive experiences I have ever had. The resort is located in an incredible location with the ocean on one side and a volcano on the other. We could not have been happier with our stay and will come back here again.

Lil’ slice of heaven

Finally arrived to Statia after a long and arduous journey from the states…thank you Tammy, storm not individual. Arrived to beautiful weather, befitting the beautiful topography as we climbed into the awaiting vehicle and journeyed to the base of the volcano. The check-in at the Golden Rock was immediate and seamless, thanks to Lydia and staff. Promptly given the tour of the well-done and well-kept grounds, arriving in our villa with our luggage arriving prior to our entry. Views….amazing. Room….amazing. Staff….delightful.

I would like to thank a few extraordinary personnel, who made our stay delightful and went beyond in order to add to our experience.

Lisemeily…behind and in front of the bar. Delightful young lady. Remarkably efficient. Love your pours.

Vinette…wonderful and never ending smile at Breezes and Bobbie’s.

Gio…great attitude and wonderful job with the room and any other job that is required.

Lastly, thank you Peter. Fabulous job amassing a beautiful resort on a largely unrecognized (as of today) little slice of heaven.

This is THE Caribbean place to relax

The diving part of the trip was a true pleasure. The guides very knowledgeable, multi lingual and friendly. In the preserved natural environment around the island, a great many types of fish we saw and recorded in our diving journal. Sea turtles, a rare sea horse and ,of note ,were the enormous lobsters. Along with the history of Eustatia the guides showed us a lot of wrecks which were noticeable and delineated by the pattern and amount of the ship’s ballast strewn on the sea’s floor. The upper structures of those ships long ago eliminated by the warm waters of the Caribbean.

Two Outstanding restaurants, “Breeze” and “ Bobbie’s Beach Club”, provided us with many memorable breakfast, lunch and dinner choices. Their staff always courteous, funny and hard working and very helpful. There had to be a superb chef in charge to produce such a large and delectable menu collection. The pools were clean and certainly an inviting cool spot after even a slight baking in the sun under the umbrellas’ lounging areas. And conveniently right next to the restaurant “Breeze” for cool drinks for all.

We had a great time!
