Sustainability

Our Journey Involves Nature, Energy And Water

As part of our vision to be the Caribbean’s leading, sustainable lifestyle resort, we have embarked on a journey to redefine luxury hospitality in the region. Our commitment goes beyond providing exceptional service and amenities; it encompasses a deep respect for the environment, the local community, and our guests' well-being. Our sustainability journey involves various initiatives aimed at minimizing our environmental footprint while maximizing our positive impact.

We are proud to share that Golden Rock Resort has recently been awarded the Green Key certification, an international eco-label that recognizes excellence in environmental and sustainable practices in tourism. This achievement underscores our dedication to operating responsibly and inspiring others to do the same.

Since the resort opened in September 2021, over 140,000 plants, flowers, and trees have been planted, creating breathtaking gardens for guests to explore—as well as a flourishing new habitat for local wildlife.

From farm to table

At our resort, we take 'fresh' seriously. Our 20,000 ft² organic greenhouse, located close to Bobbie's Beach Club, grows a variety of herbs and vegetables. Thanks to Statia's ideal climate and natural sunlight. We don't use pesticides, allowing us to grow sustainably and serve delicious, home-grown produce at both of our restaurants, Breeze & Bobbies Beach Club. As a result, we are more self-sufficient and are less dependent on imports from Europe or the USA. Guests are welcome to visit the greenhouse to pick their herbs and brew a fresh cup of herbal tea or a fresh mint Mojito! It's all part of our commitment to bringing you closer to nature.

Harnessing the sun's energy

We are proud to say that Golden Rock Resort is almost fully off the grid, thanks to our 2,240 solar panels produce 0.9 megawatts of electricity a day! This sustainable energy source covers nearly all of our electricity needs, with excess power stored in batteries for use overnight. This step towards energy independence is not just good for the environment - it ensures that our guests enjoy an eco-friendly stay with all the comforts of modern technology.

Clean water

Drinking water straight from the tap! Our reverse osmosis system purifies salt water from the ocean, filtering out impurities to produce 240.000 liters of clean drinking water that is stored in underground concrete bunkers. It's pure, refreshing, and entirely sustainable.

We also make sure that nothing goes to waste. After use, water is treated via helophyte filters and repurposed to irrigate our gardens and lawns, ensuring that our plants stay hydrated and our ecosystem thrives.
